True to her word she brings all the experience and skill necessary to take us into the 21st century embracing our mission with clarity of vision.” “The future of Siena Heights University will be built upon quality academic programs with an ethical component that calls our students to responsible citizenship,” Peg said in her inaugural address.“This is our mission, this is what distinguishes us, this is Siena Heights University!” Sister Peg was announced as the 10th President of Siena Heights University in April, started her duties July 1, and was installed Nov. 3. “I think it’s good to have an Adrian Dominican Sister at the helm of our own institution when at all possible,”Sister Peg said. “That being said, you also have to have the professional qualifications to do it. You wouldn’t just put a Sister in charge just because she is a Sister. Our Adrian Dominican Congregation has had the foresight to prepare Sisters educationally and experientially to serve institutions in leadership positions.” Remaining true to her Dominican nature and relying on her experience at Barry, she believes in collaboration in the decision-making process. “My preferred style of leadership is collaboration,”Sister Peg said. “But also as president there are times when you just need to go ahead and make a decision based on the best information you can gather from faculty, staff, students and raw data. It’s my hope that people will trust me once they have the opportunity to get to know me. People have to trust that I have done as much homework as I can do with my team and that we are making the right decisions for our future.” Starting at Siena Sister Peg hit the ground running at Siena.
