Class Notes John Pass ’99 of Tacoma, Wash., was approved last fall for a service dog from Paws With a Cause because he has been struggling with seizures for some time. A surgical treatment in 2001 ultimately led to an increase in seizures, so last summer he received a vagus nerve stimulator implant. The device gives an electrical impulse that can shorten seizures; also, John can prompt the device to give off a preventive electrical surge if he feels a seizure coming on. University graduate student has been an easy one for me. SHU allowed me to work full-time, raise children, get married and buy a home all while completing my undergrad degree. Now, Capella University is allowing me the same flexibility while I continue to raise my children and work full-time.
