Kresge Challenge Update It’s official – Siena’s Fieldhouse will be bigger and better after a $1.7 million renovation and expansion project is completed next spring. that date will count toward the campaign total — including annual fund support as well as gifts designated for specific campaign projects. “With the recent momentum of the campaign, we are confident of receiving the Kresge challenge grant for the Fieldhouse project and the Board of Trustees has authorized the commencement of the project,” President Rick Artman said recently. “We look forward to meeting, and exceeding, our goal for The Campaign for Siena Heights University.” Gifts and Giving 17 “It would be terrific if we were able to reach $13 million or go even further,” Artman added. “There is always so much we want to do at the University, so many ways we would like to strengthen Siena’s Education With a Mission and improve service to our students across the state.” The $12.5 million campaign concludes December 31, 2003. When qualifying gifts and pledges to all projects reach $12.5 million, the Kresge Foundation will contribute $750,000 to Siena Heights for the Fieldhouse expansion project. Expanding the Fieldhouse Opened in 1978, the Fieldhouse is home to the successful Siena Heights Saints intercollegiate athletic program. A hub of activity on the main campus throughout the school year, the Fieldhouse is also used extensively by the community for meetings and special events, and by students and faculty for general fitness activity. Expansion of the Fieldhouse will equip the facility with an up-to-date fitness center, and bring all athletic offices together in one location. Plans also include improved rest rooms and public areas, a spacious new lobby and a modernized training center. An outdoor entry plaza will feature commemorative bricks recognizing all donors who contribute $1,000 or more to the Campaign.
