And the winner is...
The Alumni Association Board of Directors
has established a new award honoring
outstanding service to the Alumni Association—and proudly announces that the first
recipient of the new “Alumni Board Award”
is Elizabeth (Betty) Dolan, OP ’46.
Sister Betty recently completed a threeyear term as a member of the Alumni
Board—but she has served the Alumni
Association for many more years. Prior to
this term of service, which was a return of
sorts, Sister Betty served as alumni director and Alumni Association moderator, and
held various executive positions on the
Alumni Board.
In 1973, then-President Hugh Thompson appointed Betty as alumni director.
She had previously spent a year on the
development staff and two years teaching biology and ecology to Siena science
students.
A native of Jackson, Betty now lives at the
Dominican Life Center. She received the
award, which was a surprise, at an Alumni
Board dinner in May. She was nominated
for award consideration by Dorothy Burns,
OP ’50.
