Alumni Briefs 2 New name, new Alumni Weekend dates, new events: Things are Happening at Siena! It’s official: University status is coming soon to a campus near and dear to you! President Artman tells you all about it in his column (page 3), so we’ll just tell you to mark your calendar. As of July 1, 1998, your alma mater changes its name to Siena Heights University. Keep those calendars out and take note of the new dates for Alumni Weekend. We’ve moved the weekend about six weeks earlier -- September 18-20 -- and hope to take advantage of better weather while inviting students and parents to join in the celebration. If you graduated in a year ending in “3” or “8” -- or have friends who did -- plan now to enjoy a September reunion in Adrian. Theatre alumni from around 1975-80 are working on a special Alumni Weekend performance, coordinated by Marcus Cole ’81 in Oakland, Cal., and Richard Pahl ’76 in the Chicago area. An exhibition of alumni art is planned at Flatlanders Gallery in Blissfield. And there will be lots more in the works. Alumni and friends of Siena Heights enjoyed several special events in recent months. A small Siena group met for a lakeside dinner near Battle Creek last August, prior to attending a production of The Who’s “Tommy” at the Barn Theatre in Augusta, with Eric Parker ’92 as a featured actor. In November, friends in the Chicago area gathered for an Alumni After-Hours Reception at the Oak Brook Hyatt Regency. Got an idea for an interesting Siena Heights gathering in your area? We want to hear from you! Contact any member of the Alumni Board or call Siena’s Office of Communications & Constituent Relations, (517) 264-7143.
