AUTHOR INTERVIEW
When did you write your first book (published or unpublished) and
how old were you?
I wrote several things when I was young, not sure if it was a 'book' per say, but it was very much
the beginning of something. A lot of the things from my childhood are now getting reworked and
published out now, but there are some things aren't and will never be.
Do you write under a pen name or your real name? If you do write
under a pen name, why did you choose to write under it rather
than your own name?
L. Bachman is my fiction pen name, but when I begin getting my non-fiction out it'll be under my
real name Lynn Lesher. Often times, I noticed others refer to me as Lynn Bachman too, but
that's just a mix of my real name and pen.
How long does it take you to write a book?
This works hand and hand with focusing. I finished Maxwell Demon in a month once I got really
focused, but that was incredibly fast for me. Sometimes things take months, which is most com-
mon. I'm a slow writer. I've been able to finish things even as short as week, but that's short sto-
ries.
Do you carefully select the character names or just use ones that
pop up in your head?
I've asked readers and supporters for their thoughts to bring them into that part of the process,
but I'm very very careful to pick a name that fits the character unless a name comes first and I
think about what type of person would have that name.
Who was your inspiration growing up and why?
Anne Rice. She wrote Interview with the Vampire and that was the first book I read that really
inspired me to want to write as well.
