A TRIBUTE
TO AN ANGEL
By Cee Cee H. Caldwell-Miller
In Memory of First Lady R. Carolyn Cahoon
There are people that you are blessed to come in contact with in your
lifetime and they leave a lasting impression. I met First Lady R. Carolyn
Cahoon almost 18 years ago at the House of Prayer Church of God In
Christ in Plainfield, New Jersey. When I met her for the first time, she
had such a presence about her. Once my husband and I joined the
church, I began to know her better. As I observed her, listened to her
and learned from, I knew that my life would never be the same. Sis.
Cahoon was a woman of style, class and grace and you knew when she
entered into the room. She had such an energy about her. First Lady
Cahoon was a great example of what a First Lady should endeavor to be
like. Her love for God was undeniable, she trusted Him with her whole
heart. She was a loving and supportive wife, a caring and devoted
mother/grandmother and a powerhouse educator. She was a champion
for youths an and advocate for education at all levels. First Lady
Cahoon made an impact on so many lives that they are too numerous to
count. Her presence will be missed more than words can say but, I know
those of us whom had the pleasure of knowing her will not let her hard
work on this earth be in vain. If it were not for Sister R. Carolyn
Cahoon, I may not have become an organ donor. She was a fighter, a
survivor, and a conqueror, her strength made us all stand tall. We lost
an Angel but, Heaven gained one!
