Real Life Real Faith Women Walking By Faith May/June 2016 | Page 11
Everyone does not enjoy the arrival of the second Sunday in May. Some people go out of
their way to avoid Mother’s Day completely because of the trauma associated with it. Also,
the commercialization of Mother’s Day often adds insult to injury. For many, women in
particular, the second Sunday in May is a source of great pain and suffering. As we
experience Mother’s Day, in 2016 and beyond, let us be mindful of these circumstances and
pray for the individuals among us who are hurting.
A Prayer For The Hurting Ones
• I pray for those of us whose experience with motherhood has not been ideal or happy or
joyous.
• I pray for women who desire to give birth, yet their wombs deny them the opportunity to
carry and deliver a living being.
• I pray for healing and wholeness for those who have been deeply hurt physically,
emotionally, psychologically and spiritually, because of their relationship with their
mother.
• I pray for the women who have terminated a pregnancy. Lord, help them learn to forgive
themselves.
• I pray for the women who have miscarried. Lord, help them to not blame themselves.
• I pray for solace for women whose children have been taken from them due to the child’s
death from illness, death from homicide, death from suicide, incarceration, civil
commitment, addiction…
• I pray for parents who have children in foster care.
• I pray for children in foster care who think that their parents don’t love them.
• I pray for comfort and peace for women whose parental rights have been terminated.
They wonder where their children are. They live with emptiness for what has been lost.
They exist in a constant state of mourning.
• I pray for people who never had the opportunity to develop any relationship with their
mother because of the mother’s death, incarceration, drug addiction, alcoholism, mental
illness…
God loves you and wants the best for you. God has great plans for you. Walk by faith to
meet God on the other side of trouble.
