Kravitz, D'Angelo, Donnie Hathaway, Santana, the Beatles, Steely Dan. Others to listen to, Earth Wind and Fire, Ohio Players, Weather, Report, Herbie Hancock. For simply fine as wine of listening to great stereo separation Michael Jackson and Prince. Prince with Sign O’ The Times, and Thriller from Michael is pure listening indulgence in recording stereo. In both records Michael and Prince say and sing things you just can’t hear on a cheap plastic set-up, and many of the instruments are muddied.

With most music made in the 60’s all the way through to 2005 you stand a good chance to hear some great stereo. Music after those years, a lot of music was made for computer speakers, earbuds and club booming bass beat music which has no uses for stereo. After 2005, it’s no coincidence, cellphones, ITunes, I pod’s, internet radio and music downloading all hit popularity about that time. Although there is still good music not made on a computer and auto-tuned, you won’t find it on a radio, unless one custom tunes for what they want to hear. I know many have fell into listening to smooth jazz, and if you heard it on a good stereo, you would expand your listening range, and enjoy what you have even more.

I’m here to tell you their middle or bottom quality is heads and tails above the department store. The good or

average stereo equipment in a stereo specialty store/ electronics retailer is priced in the same range of the higher end of box stores and X-Brand-Mart. There is a very good market of “don’t be scared” of used and refurbished. Classic stereo equipment also makes for great furniture. The late Apple founder Steve Jobs opted to listen to records over mp3s and CDs at home. Yet those devices and units sound so much better when matched up with a good stereo receiver or stereo amp and wood speakers.

Don’t Be “Stereo”-typical

Okay, maybe you don’t care about sound all that much, you, you just want some background music, well, let me help you understand. Your ears are being mistreated, and physically hurt. Yep, it affects the health of your ears; your ears are in trouble listening to sounds reproduced in low quality. Good stereocan be played at a lower volume and all voices and instruments can be heard. cheap plastic modern boom boxes enhance the bass and kill the mid range , lift the highs so youAll this is one of the reasons people consult with me on upgrading, where to buy new or used, or have me refinish and update their old mom and pop’s console stereo. That old wood and the stereo amps used from back in the day made music sound sweet at any volume. You can still have great sound and enjoy music as it was meant to be. Be good to your ears and the soul of your music.
