So how do you start?

The first step is to start using your body as its own scientific laboratory. Experiment. Observe. Take notes on your findings. One way to do this is to begin keeping a food diary. Many people today use phone apps or books to document the food they are eating daily, but they neglect to record some of the most important information out there; the reactions to food throughout the day.

In a journal or notebook you should try to note how you feel physically and emotionally before, during, and after meals and drinks. Be sure to write down how you feel immediately after consumption, as well as a couple of hours later. Your body may take a couple of hours to process the foods/drinks and a physical or emotional response may be delayed. This type of journal can bring awareness to any sensitivities or reactions you are having to the things that you consume.

Pretty soon you will start to make connections. You will begin to find that some foods drain you, while others help you thrive.

That knowledge about yourself is priceless, because that is the first step in understanding what you need to be a healthier YOU!
