RLRF: What did you exactly do that helped you release the 70lbs of weight that you lost?

Dawn Ali: The three main things were 1. Mindset change (which I didn’t realize at that time). The mindset change was the making the decision to be all in, to do whatever it takes, get out of denial, stop the excuses, and stop blaming others, and be willing to learn and do new things, because the old things weren’t working. 2. An extremely high intake of raw fruits and vegetables. 3. Drinking a lot of spring water daily.

RLRF: Is your personal weight loss the reason that led to you wanting to share your story with others by writing a book and coaching others?

Dawn Ali: Yes, after I lost my weight (even during my weight loss journey), combined with the dreams I had, and burning desires inside of me, I understood what one of my main purposes in life was. Those things combined had me write my books and become a life coach.

RLRF: What would you say to encourage a woman who is going through what you went through that will help her make it to the finish line?

Dawn Ali: First, I will say, that you can do it, no matter how much you may be thinking that you cannot do it. We are all made from the same stuff, so if one of us can do something, we all can. The next thing is that the only way you will be able to do it, and keep it off is by working on the mindset that is the most important thing. Our mindset is what causes us to sabotage ourselves, even though we do not want to. Therefore, until that mindset/thinking process is changed, you will stay in a position of feeling as if you are stuck even though you are not. You have to be willing to start looking at things differently, let go of people and situations who cause you an extreme amount of stress. Because those people and situations are what cause us to emotionally eat, and we have to be willing to do new things so that we can break old habits that cause us to get the results that we do not want. Like the saying goes “Diets don’t work, it’s a lifestyle change.”
