COMMUNITY EVENT FOR HAWAI’I ACTIVISTS
PESTICIDES IN PARADISE:
HOW HAWAIIAN COMMUNITIES TOOK ON THE
CHEMICAL INDUSTRY AND WON
New York City, NY, July 11
Real Food Media brought together more than 80 people for a
rousing public event with advocates from Hawai’i who have been
working for years to regulate the pesticide industry there. The event
was a celebration of their big win this year: pesticide spray buffer
zones around schools, mandatory disclosure of spraying, and a ban
on the toxic insecticide chlorpyrifos—the first such ban in the nation.

Anna delivered the keynote address at the opening weekend of the We Feed the
World exhibition in London and spoke to the crowds at the Good Food March
outside Westminster. She is a truly gifted orator; able to deliver complex
information with a warmth and narrative that immediately helps people to join
the dots and understand the critical nature of supporting a better food system, as
well as emboldening them to take action in their own lives. We are so incredibly
grateful for her support and guidance throughout the project.
