A small, basic sewing kit with a needle and three thread colours: black, white and nude, along with a spare plain white and plain black button can be a life-saver if you pop a button, and it’s easy to stash too.

They can be a life saver on so many occasions – spilt coffee down your shirt, chewing gum stuck to pants from sitting on a park bench at lunchtime, not to mention a great quick fix if you forgot to put on deodorant and don’t have deodorant with you and need to freshen up very quickly to avoid unsightly pit-stains.
