Update a Space
with Colour

ainting a room is a quick and easy way to update a
space especially if you’re looking to sell. But where to
start with so many colours available to choose from?
“Choosing colours need not be a daunting task”, says Plascon
Head of Decorative Marketing Katlego Kondlo, “if you follow
these four simple steps:”
Decide on ‘the look’
Modern, industrial, contemporary, coastal, mid-century,
minimal, French and more, there are so many different design
and décor styles to choose from. Consider the space and the
rest of the home before deciding on the look. “Is this an office,
a reading nook, a formal lounge that you are decorating? All
these questions need to be answered before you decide so
that you can get the most out of your newly revamped space,”
Katlego suggests.
The three ‘F’ words
Once decided on ‘the look’ and before heading to the hardware
for paint swatches, think instead about the fabric, furniture
and flooring. Katlego says, “It’s easier to match paint to these
three elements than the other way around so take the time to
ensure you know what colours and textures you’ll be working
with before you buy your paint.”
Choosing your colours and paints
A colour scheme all depends on preferences and what look
you are going for and it’s not always just about one colour.
