airport in a relatively shorter period of time. And the friend who will be spending time on the beach wants a book with chapters so she can read a chapter or two, then take a break… perhaps she'll go into the water or visit the boardwalk for a snack. She knows from past history that she needs these chapter breaks to avoid being engrossed in the book to the point of getting a sunburn! Over the past month as I connected with my friends with travel plans, these book discussions have given me a whole new appreciation for promoting books for summer reading lists! I've also had the opportunity to chat with some folks in doctors' offices as I travel through my current medical issues. Again, book discussions with the avid readers who carry their books with them to their appointments has also given me some interesting insight into what people are reading, why people are reading the books they've chosen and how these people choose their books. Which type of reader are you? Do you have a list of favorite authors whose books you read, a list from which you rarely deviate? Do you have a specific genre that you read; again, rarely deviating from that topic? Are you a more eclectic reader who has a work related book on your pile atop a romance novel that will be a good read just for fun that covers another book that a friend recommended? Are you a reader that is tempted to read books from the New York Times Best Sellers List? Do you read books that become movies – reading the books first or reading the book after the movie – giving yourself a chance to compare the two? As summer arrives, be a reader! For fun. For work. For travel vicariously through reading. ENJOY!
