6. A Walk to Remember.
Yes, these are all rather
tragic thus far but I like
to think they give hope
as well. In this story
the leading guy finds
redemption in loving
the leading gal. It is
somewhat reminiscent
of Love Story in my
opinion but I still
enjoyed both book and
movie.
7. Pride and Prejudice. I
personally prefer the
Keira
Knightly/Matthew
Macfeyden version but I
do not believe one can
go wrong with this film
and the book is, of
course, stellar. I love it
so much that I own it in
paperback and ebook –
generally a no-no for
me.
8. Under the Tuscan
Sun. First, I did not like
the book. In fact, it was
one of only a very few
that I could not finish.
That said, the movie
was amazing and Diane
Lane superb in this tale
of finding love again
after losing everything
so abruptly. Give it a
go!
9. Gone With the Wind.
Tragedy, romance, war
and even famine round
out this Margaret
Mitchell classic and the
movie adaptation
starring Vivien Leigh
and Clark Gable (along
with so many others!)
are both phenomenal. I
cannot decide which I
prefer so I will settle
with this advice – read
the book then watch
the movie because they
are both rewarding in
so many ways.
10. The Princess Bride.
Where else can you find
swashbuckling pirates,
love princesses in
distress, and ROUSs
(Rodents of Unusual
Size) in one book? The
story is fantastic as it is
but brought to life by
the likes of Cary Elwes,
Robin Wright Penn,
Mandy Patinkin, and
the late Andre the
Giant. I strongly
suggest both book and
movie in this case!
I could go on and on as
there are so many
books that fit into this
category but I am
pleased with this list
and I hope you all are
as well!
