I have been walking this spiritual path long enough to know that when a particular book, poem, quote or song continues to show up in my life from various, seemingly unrelated sources, that it is Spirit trying to get my attention and I’d better take it seriously. Such is the case with this quote below by 6th Century BC Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu:

My first thought upon studying this text was that it was pertaining to the current unrest and divisiveness in this country and, indeed, the world. I also knew that something was about to happen for me that would uncover why this quote had been sent to me. I didn’t have to wait very long.

On Inauguration Day, Deepak Chopra, author, teacher and the most respected expert in mind/body/spirit connection, conducted a live-stream, guided meditation at noon, the same time that the oath of office would be administered. I logged on to his site and was amazed as the number of participants grew

and grew before our eyes well into the thousands. I got myself centered, and followed his prompts, watching my breathing, repeating the chants and mantras, and feeling quiet and peaceful. After all, I was an old hand at this. I was enlightened, aware, and awake. I meditated every day. I did yoga. I was a vegan, for heaven’s sake. Then the tone of the meditation shifted. Deepak told us to silently repeat our full names to ourselves, prefaced by the phrase, “I Am.” So in my case, it was “I Am Barbara Parcells.” Not Barb. No, Barbara, my given name.

Hello,

I Love You

“If there is to be peace in the world,

There must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations,

There must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities,

There must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors,

There must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home,

There must be peace in the heart.”
