As an educator, one of my favorite ways to teach is through creative writing. My students often have expressive language delays and are asked to complete the most difficult task in education - written expression. I have taught many different subjects: math with its formulas, science and history with information that remains consistent, and can be memorized. However, writing is something that comes from the creator.

What if the creator is an individual who has been told time and again that their ideas are wrong or that they are not good enough? This may have stirred up old memories and patterns that need release. It is not to say that the individual is wrong or cannot do the writing.

I bet they can write in the most wonderful way. I say, believe this in your heart to be true and therefore it is. I have had amazing success with non-writers. Once upon a time, an administrator told me that I was wrong until they reviewed my test scores and progress notes.

The most amazing miracle happens when one writes from the heart. To write from the heart begins with hearing your heartbeat. The next step is to believe with all of your heart that you can do it! Because you can! You may go about this in a different manner, nevertheless this does not mean that you are wrong. It just means that your imagination is unique. Some love my writing style and some do not. That is their opinion, however, when did their opinion make it the end all? I am an amazing teacher of writing and have produced some of the most astounding and successful writers, and yet publishers can cringe, and question my expertise. Why, do you ask? I write from my heart and soul just as it flows out; not all have the pretense to understand the sacredness to the dawning of a new way. Therefore, why should I hold back and disallow the beauty of my heartfelt miracle? I shall not nor should you!

So, if I can face this adversity and my students can overcome their challenges, then by golly so can you. It is about beginning, and everyone begins in their own way.

Creative writing is one of my favorite ways to coax out that which is deep within. Creative writing is using quite an imagination; the more imaginative the better. I am notorious for creating writing prompts that make one stop and shake their head. They are purposely odd and peculiar; however, the metacognition of the brain is unable to process the bewildered requisite of the past, and is therefore intrigued.
