Do you like banana bread?

…with chocolate chips?

…and walnuts?

Are you drooling yet?

I wish I could send you all a dozen of these freaking fantastic cookies. Instead, I’ll do you a little better. Here’s my super secret recipe. Share it with all your banana-chocolate chip-walnut friends. Send some to school with your kids. Drop some off at your neighbor’s. Bring some to church. Leave some out for Santa on Christmas Eve. And a few for Rudolph, too.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

The Secret to this recipe is that the riper the bananas, the better these cookies are!

Ingredients

• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten free flour)

• 2 teaspoons baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

• 1 cup granulated sugar

• 2/3 cup butter, softened

• 2 eggs

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 1 cup mashed bananas (about 3-4 really ripe bananas)

• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

• 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

• Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)

• Grease cookie sheets or use parchment paper

• Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda together, and set aside

• Cream the butter and the bananas with the sugar until light and fluffy

• Beat in the eggs and vanilla

• Add the flour mixture, and stir until just combined

• Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts

• Lick the beaters

• Drop by spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets

• Lick the spoon

• Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes

Makes about 3 1/2 – 4 dozen yummy-licious cookies
