My Hotel Cocktails A few of the team from MWB were invited to take part in a cocktail masterclass by the lovely people at Merkaba in My Hotel, Brighton. Unlike other cocktail masterclasses there was no set drinks list, we got to decide what drinks are made. The cocktails passed around for everyone to try and I have to say was a lot of fun making them and hearing the stories behind them. The grand finale saw the bar being set on fire to create a dramatic flaming cocktail. Paddle Round the Pier This year, our firm is one of the main sponsors of Paddle Round the Pier, currently the world’s biggest free beach and water sports festival. It runs every year at Hove Lawns and features the very best in water, street and urban sports as well as children’s entertainment, ‘have a go’ opportunities and much more. This year’s extravaganza takes place on July 4th and 5th and Mayo Wynne Baxter will be sponsoring the ‘Paddle Something Unusual’ event. Previous years’ entries have seen anything from aeroplanes to cranes, from a bed to a shed and the only guidelines are to make it as ridiculous, but as safe, as possible while raising plenty of money and of course having a good laugh joining in. Mayo Wynne Baxter is delighted to be sponsoring such a high-profile community event. Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival 2015 Every Easter and for ten days in September, the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival, takes place and is the largest of its kind in the south of England. With local producers, growers, restaurants, bars and food retailers at its heart, it’s a showcase of the fantastic food, drink and hospitality to be found in the city and surrounding areas of Sussex. Rated by the New York Post in February 2012 as one of the world’s leading local food events, the festival also runs and supports food activity throughout the year including farmers markets and the Brighton Restaurant Association. Dinner and dancing The Eastbourne Law Society dinner held on January 30th at the Grand Hotel was well attended by some of our staff including Partners Karim Mohamed, Steven Holt and Glen Stone. President of the society Mr Robin Bates welcomed guests to the event before everyone enjoyed a delicious three-course meal followed by dancing to live music. Answers to crossword 7
