Día de los Muertos, or Day of the
Dead, takes place over the first
two days of November. Its origins
are a mixture of Native American
traditions and a set of Catholic
holidays. The Day of the Dead
has its origins from pre-Hispanic
civilizations from 2,500 to 3,000
years ago. The celebration is
based on the belief that the souls
of their loved ones will come back
and visit them.
