Zambezi blast
AND ALL IN THE NAME OF CHARITY!
So – where this time? Having returned
from a 2 month sabbatical travelling
around India (see Re: Magazine Summer
Edition 2016) I returned with my appetite
whetted. But rather than travel just for
pleasure, having experienced some life
changing moments in India, and having
witnessed the poverty which besets
many of the population and in particular
its impact on children, I decided to
combine my sense of adventure with
some fundraising this time.
Some readers may already be familiar
with the children’s charity, Winston’s
Wish (www.winstonswish.org.uk), which
has a base in Horsham, West Sussex,
but also a national reach across the UK.
The charity was founded in 1992 by the
clinical psychologist, Dr Julie Stokes,
and is the UK’s leading childhood
bereavement charity providing support
to bereaved and soon to be bereaved
children.
Regular readers of Re: Magazine may gain the (wrong!)
impression that I spend all my time on holiday! Being a lawyer
who specialises in working for the travel industry, international
travel goes with the territory. But luckily, I do enjoy travel a lot!
Having decided to invest my time and
energy in supporting Winston’s Wish, I
began the search for a headline grabbing,
eyebrow raising adventure that would
not only challenge me but also, hopefully,
bring in some much needed funds for the
charity. Having scoured the internet for
something which would fit the bill, I came
