elegance , while introducing a unique feel . Many of the 25 rooms either open onto private gardens or have the same views of the seafront as we did .
Being an old building you expect a few creaks and groans but surprisingly the hotel was very quiet despite all the rooms being fully booked up on the night of our visit and although so close to the seafront there was little in the way of noise from the outside either .
The Charm doesn ’ t have a bar but with so much available literally on its doorstep this is far from a problem .
Checkout was efficient and all in all it was a good experience . The advertised tariff for our room was £ 260 per night which I felt was a little pricey but like all hotels this isn ’ t always what you have to pay . I have seen the same room available for as little as £ 155 . Other rooms in the hotel start from only £ 120 and these come with queen-sized beds so if you want to try it for yourself then visit thecharmbrighton . co . uk and check out their special offers .

With my trustee co-reviewer and longsuffering girlfriend Jo , we set out to see what the fuss was about . Those of you who know Brighton will also know that the city has no shortage of hotel beds , so to stand out hotels need to be something special .
On arrival we were met in the spacious reception by manager David who gave us a warm welcome and checked us in before showing us to our room . Being a reviewer , it is not unusual to be given the very best room the hotel has and David showed us to their King Suite Balcony Seaview Room . The room was tastefully decorated and boasted a super king-size bed , complete with a plush and richly padded button headboard . The bedding was the ultimate in quality bed linen with goosed down pillows and duvet ; I knew we were going to get a great night ’ s sleep here . The room had an angled view of the sea and looked out onto the New Steine gardens . The ensuite was large and the over-bath shower head was huge , ensuring that a good drenching was inevitable come shower time . The towels were plush as were the robes and all in all the room felt very comfortable .
Just as we had predicted , we enjoyed a deep , peaceful and uninterrupted night ’ s sleep . As we dressed to go down for breakfast we got our first notion that we were not the only guests from the sound of running water , which I assume came from a pipe embedded within one of the walls . On reaching the dining room we were a little surprised to see how full the room was but also that the manager David was there again ( does he ever stop ?). Breakfast offering was the usual array of continental meats , cheeses , fruit and cereals along with a more diverse cooked menu . Predictably I chose the full English ( I still think the cooked breakfast on offer is a great way to judge a hotel ); Jo , on the other hand , selected Eggs Benedict which looked and tasted delicious .
A wardrobe in the corner housed a Nespresso machine , safe and ironing board . As we were sporting winter coats it would have been nice to have had a little more hanging space .
All 25 guest rooms have individual climate control , flat screen Samsung television , en suite bathrooms with bath and shower facilities , as well as free high speed wireless internet access . I think the interior designers have achieved a clean , cool style that incorporates sophistication and
