New Birth Injuries for
Pension Scheme
It was widely reported that the Department of Health are introducing a new scheme aimed at
‘Safer Maternity Care’ (SMC), whereby parents whose children have suffered injury at birth may
be able to settle their complaint through a compensation scheme, rather than pursuing a medical
negligence claim.
