Football tournament
This year, Chantrey Vellacott held their
annual solicitors and accountants
6-a-side football tournament on 25th
September at the Brighton Rugby Club.
With many firms participating from in
and around Sussex, staff from Mayo
Wynne Baxter were in attendance (and
triumphantly adhered to the mandatory
rule; to have at least one female on the
team and on the pitch at all times). The
starting line-up included Robin Churchill,
Katherine Leppard from the litigation
department, Scott Gair, Hamed Ovaisi
and Daniel Pike from the commercial
department and trainee Anjli Majevadia.
The evening was competitive and
invigorating, including three ten-minute
matches in a `knockout league` style.
After particularly close matches against
Rix & Kay and Carpenter Box, MWB
unfortunately didn’t quite make it to
qualify for the finals but had a fantastic
evening nevertheless.
Macmillan Mascots update
We have been steadily fundraising for
our firm’s chosen charity, Macmillan in
Sussex, by holding a number of events
including a car boot sale manned by four
of our Macmillan Mascots: Gail Waller;
Sinead McGeady; Catalina PanaitescuBeacroft and Estella Hlisnikowski, which
raised £260, and a coffee morning that
raised £300, while Finance Director
David Harrison ran the Great South Run,
raising just over £200. You can read all
about our Ice Bucket Challenge on page
53, which brought in more than £600.
Staff were invited on two occasions
to visit the Sussex Macmillan Cancer
Support Centre by our regional
representative, Sarah Coxhill. The visits
gave those who attended the opportunity
to see where the money being raised
by our activities was being spent and to
find out more about the centre and the
services it will provide. The second of
