News Firewalk Living Wage Sharon Lock is a legal secretary who went beyond the norm to raise money for Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare by walking barefoot over hot coals. She was one of a 100 people who completed the sponsored fire walk which raised £15,000 for the centre who will use the money to feed the cats and dogs over the winter months. We were one of the first companies to sign up to the Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign and we recently hosted an event at our offices to mark the 100th company to sign up. The guest speaker was Caroline Lucas MP who said “By paying their staff a Living Wage, local businesses are sending a clear message that everyone should earn enough to cover the cost of living.” The UK Living Wage rate has recently been increased by 20 pence to £7.65 per hour and current accredited businesses have until 1st April 2014 to implement this new rate. Children in Need Pudsey was at the Pavilion Ice Rink with a BBC film crew for Children in Need and we were asked if we fancied taking to the ice with him. A small team of volunteers from our Brighton office slipped and slid around the rink and were rewarded with a warming hug from the bear himself. 4
