Young & talented £50,000 prize fund available for young entrepreneurs in Brighton & Hove Young Start-up Talent, an entrepreneurial initiative aimed at inspiring 16-25 year olds into the world of business launched for a second year on 1st October and for the second year Mayo Wynne Baxter is a main sponsor. Some 40 local business leaders, heads of local sixth forms, college and university representatives met to celebrate the launch of the popular entrepreneurial initiative, Young Startup Talent. The project attracts some 30 local and national sponsors and carries a prize fund worth £50,000 worth of products and ser vices all donated by the judges and sponsors. Mike Weatherley MP for Hove commented “Young Start-up Talent is an excellent initiative that with its proven track record is clearly inspiring budding entrepreneurs. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, which is why new innovations are so important in rebuilding our economy. I wish everyone luck for this year’s competition. Special congratulations must go to both Lorraine Nugent and Matt Turner for their dedication in organising the laudable project.” 102 Anya Krasnikova one of last years’ finalists added “Taking part in the Young Start-up Talent helped me realise what I needed to have in order to run a business. Since the competition I have been working on developing those areas. I now have a better understanding of what I want and this has given me more confidence to approach more people.” New to the judging panel this year is Mike Holland - One of Mike’s notable successes was landing a major government housing project with a monthly turnover in excess of 3 million pounds. Recent projects include the restoration of Stanmer House. He is currently creating the World of Engineering in Hove which is set to become one of the region’s major tourism attractions. Mike will be working closely alongside the other judges, John Keenan Business Editor of the Argus, Dean Orgill – Chairman of Mayo Wynne Baxter Solicitors, Stephen Mason, Director of Mason International and entrepreneur, a senior representative from Brighton University and founding partners of Young Start-up Talent, Matt Turner and Lorraine Nugent.
