Welcome (L-R) Chris Randall, Me, Cotts and Dean Orgill Summer’s here! There is no better place than Sussex in the sunshine, the green of the rolling downs and the glistening blue waters. The village greens in bloom, the smell of freshly cut grass, cucumber sandwiches and cricket. We welcome a new boy to the Re: Magazine team – Laurence Elphick. Laurence joins us from Juice 107.2 FM and is sports mad so we gave him the task of interviewing cricket legend Tony Cottey who is one of the few people to have won the Championship with more than one county side. For anyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Cotts, he is a genuinely funny guy with a never ending supply of anecdotes. I particular love his tale of playing basketball with Robbie Williams. Liza got to interview Herbie Flowers, possibly the world’s most accomplished session musician. By the end of the 70s he had played bass on over 500 hit records. Herbie was in T-Rex and also played with Elton John, George Harrison, Cat Stevens, David Bowie and Lou Reed to name drop a few (remember that famous bass line in Walk on the Wild Side?). Susie Parsons tell us why she loves Ringmer and Gemma Leighton shares her trip to San Francisco. Liza also blagged a ride out with the Harveys Shire Horses as they clip clopped through town delivering beer. We are also proud to announce that we have picked up some silverware from the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards and there’s more on this on page 5. It’s always a bit manic in the Re: Magazine office around deadline and we occasionally miss the odd typo but we now have wordsmith Lorraine Nugent trying to spot them and if she misses one we’ll be paying £5 for each one to our nominated charity – Macmillan Sussex. So if you spot one, do let me know. I hope that you enjoy this summer issue and as always I’m always grateful for your feedback, we’ve had some lovely letters about the last issue. I’d love to hear what you think of this issue of Re: Magazine so please drop me a line at editor@ remagazine.co.uk Now let’s fire up the BBQ and enjoy this sunshine! Jason Edge Editor 3
