taking place as guests enjoyed their
main courses. The second surprise
of the night came from a medieval
duel involving King Sid, Mayo Wynne
Baxter’s Chairman Dean Orgill who
had been secretly trained in the use
of swords and shields by Riddle of
Steel’s, Mark Gilbert.
James Ross Jewellers, were on hand
to present £500 voucher for the best
dressed couple – Geoff and Michelle
Rauf who had handmade their intricate
costumes.. This was then followed
by a well received charity raffle and
auction consisting of prizes donated by
a host of Sussex business’s including
restaurants, hotels and none other
then best selling author Peter James
donating the chance to be a character
in a future Roy Grace novel. As the
dessert and mead were served, the
rest of the night’s events included
a touching speech by Ryan Heal,
Chief Executive of Rockinghorse who
reminded the room what the money
raised was for. The evening ended with
a great performance from local band
Empire. Guests were then encouraged
to drink, dance and be merry into the
early hours medieval style.
