Rockinghorse As part of our CSR programme we partner with a Sussex-based charity and focus our fundraising efforts for them for two years. In March the staff at MWB nominated the charities they wanted to work with and a shortlist of three worthy causes was chosen. There was then a vote to final choose and in April we were able to announce that our charity partner is now Rockinghorse. Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity which has been supporting children for nearly 50 years. It was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies. The charity raises money to buy life saving cutting-edge equipment for hospitals across Sussex including the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, The Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex and the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital both in Brighton. [pic of Ryan] Ryan Heal, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been voted as the chosen charity by staff at Mayo Wynne Baxter for the next two years. The law firm is very well respected in the county, so it is fantastic to be able to align ourselves with them in the lead up to our 50th anniversary celebrations. We are very much looking forward to working with the team on a number of exciting fundraising activities and events.” Advanced Apprentice Award MWB Marketing Apprentice Jade Russell has been nominated for a National Apprenticeship Award – Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year. And she is very excited to be a part of something so amazing. She joined us here at Mayo Wynne Baxter in January 2016 following a rigorous selection process at the end of 2015 through Creative Process, a leading digital apprenticeship business based in Answers to Crossword Hove. They helped her to achieve her apprentice appointment with us, and have been giving her training in the sector whilst supporting her in gaining two qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Digital Media - Competence she will be invited to a dinner dance and ceremony, inviting her colleagues and family. We all have our fingers crossed for Jade and look forward to when the winners are announced. Level 3 Certificate in Creative and Digital Media - Knowledge Jade has an assessor who visits her, to check her coursework and progress monthly, and she has been so pleased with Jade’s quality and quantity of work in such a short period of time at MWB that she has nominated Jade for the National Apprenticeship Awards 2016 – Advan ced Apprentice of the Year! Although specialising in digital marketing and social media Jade has rapidly become an important member of the busy marketing team and assists with all aspects of the department’s activities. These awards are run by GOV.UK and if Jade makes it through to the finals, 7
