WINNING REVIEWED BY WES GAME ITALY Italy –Duca Di Cardion - Chianti AUSTRALIA Winemaker’s Choice – Cabernet/Shiraz Lathwaites £7-8 Sainsbury’s £6 Chianti is Italy’s most exported wine and comes from Tuscany. As with other famous regions e.g. Champagne or Rioja, Chianti has to be made and bottled within the Chianti region. The Sangiovese grape can vary depending on location and altitude. This wine has only been lightly oaked so the expected cherry flavour and spice and very rewarding. The medium body means it is easy to drink with lighter food or even sitting outside in the summer sun (assuming it arrives!!) Definitely treat yourself to an Italian day. Australia is the 4th largest wine exporter (behind France, Italy and Spain), exporting to 120 countries. They have led the way is varietal labelling, fruit driven, value for money wines. This wine certainly fits the mould and is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz which gives it a smooth finish. I wasn’t too impressed with my first glass, b WBv
