The football season is now over and the county ’ s teams have a lot to be proud of when they look back at their achievements .
Brighton & Hove Albion FC
Crawley Town FC Cricket
As a main sponsor of Brighton & Hove Albion we were particularly proud to see the Seagulls make it to the play-offs and vie for a place in top flight football . The end of season management issues were unresolved at time of printing but whatever your feelings , there can be no doubt that Brighton ’ s recent success are in part down to Gus Poyet ’ s leadership . A 4 th place finish in the Championship is not to be sniffed at .
In May we sponsored the Albion Payer of the Year Award which deservedly went to Liam Bridcutt .
Over the summer Albion players will be on international duty as skipper Gordon Greer has been called up to the Scotland national side , alongside Liam Bridcutt , ahead of a World Cup Qualifier against Croatia .
Liam unfortunately had to withdraw from international duty .
The Red Devils ’ first season in the Npower League One saw them finish at a very respectable 10 th place having won 18 , drawn 14 and lost 14 of their games . Manager Richie Barker is already looking forward to next season but warned “ The three coming down are massive clubs as we know . Wolves and Bristol City will be targeting an immediate return and Peterborough cannot be underestimated either . So it ’ s a massive challenge . I think League One wasn ’ t quite as strong this season as last but next year it will probably be as tough as it ’ s ever been ”.
Eastbourne Borough FC
The Boro ’ s season started with some high scoring games to delight the fans including a 4-nil win away to Horsham and a 6-1 win over Newhaven at the Priory Lane Stadium . The latter part of the season was dogged with a number of draws that left them finishing mid table at 12 th .
As the football season ends we move over to our new summer residence in the Mayo Wynne Baxter Executive Suite to watch Sussex at the BrightonandHoveJobs . com County Ground . We are hoping that the weather this summer is more forgiving than last year and that we get to see the Sharks bat and bowl their way to a few decisive victories .
Taking the naming rights of the Executive Suite is the latest part of our support of the club which goes back many years . Zac Toumazi , Chief Executive of Sussex Cricket , said , “ Mayo Wynne Baxter has been a fantastic supporter of the club in the past and we are delighted they decided to put their name to the Executive Suite . The Suite is important for us not only during the season , where we provide Executive Members the perfect setting for watching cricket , but also 365 days a year , as with all our facilities .”
Lewes FC
It was a close shave for the Rooks as they narrowly held on to their membership of the Ryman Premier League and stayed out of the relegation zone on goal difference . One of the more memorable games was the amazing 9 goal fest away to Concord Rangers that saw the Rooks score 6 goals .
