active users, both became available
to users throughout the world in 2006.
These social networks remain some
of the most popular platforms on the
Internet today. Other networks like Tumblr,
Spotify, Pinterest and Instagram began
popping up to fill the niches within social
networking in and around the year 2010
– Instagram being the most popular with
over 300 million users.
It is clear that social media is now a huge
part in people’s lives, and we will be
surrounded by it for as long as humans
are alive.

So, what brought us to the world of
social media?
The key to us using social media is
engagement, we wish to show customers
our devoted time to interact with them; by
making our posts personal to the person,
we can show that we are human and
understand their needs and requests; this
is a sign of respect and appreciation.
Curiosity - this plays a big role within
social media, for example: Facebook
is to satisfy curiosity so we can see
what friends and colleagues are up to.
The ability to peek and peer into other
people’s lives may be enough to entice
potential clients to sign up to Facebook
or join Twitter. The more clients we can
attract to our social media platforms, the
more chance we have of engaging with
them on a regular basis. There is nothing
like seeing what someone is posting or
tweeting to catch a glimpse into their
world – this leads into social media
actually being quite entertaining and
informative. Instagram is examples of how
social media is changing the way people
see the business world with its fabulous
filters turning photography into visual fun
and by showing our firm through images
on our Instagram; we can gain potential
clients by combining our professional
and fun sides. Social media is extremely
interactive this drives engagement.
We try and present knowledge through
our platforms and we post many blog
articles on our website which we then
share them through social media. We
hope that readers expand their knowledge
of what we do and the laws that might
affect them. This can lead to word of
mouth marketing as people will be
learning something new and sharing this
information with friends and colleagues.
This will then gain us potential clients, as
they will want to read more from us, and
hopefully be interested in our services.
A huge part of why we use social media
is to engage with our existing clients
and potential clients. Most of us enjoy
communicating; some of us like it short
and sweet others want to have a good
long chat. This difference means that
social media platforms cater to differing
preferences and read quite differently.
We work within each platform’s rules, for
example Twitter has a 140 character limit
so this will be for the people who want
short and snappy communication, whilst
Facebook has no limit and so this is more
for the people who wish to read on and
find out more. We want to show people
what we do in the community, inform
them about changes to the law that might
affect them and also tell them about the
services we can offer. An effective way
to do this is through social media as it
has an enormous potential audience.
As a business, social media gives us
the ability to keep in touch and social
media has become a common way of
communicating.
