Meet
the team
Alisa Chamberlen – Client Service Manager
make every effort to take a lunch hour, I
normally work through. We have a bit of
a walk to town now that we are no longer
in the High Street at Lewes, but during
the summer months I do try and pop to
the park just outside our office to get as
much vitamin D (if the sun is shining) as
possible.
7. What’s the best thing about your
team?
Their passion to provide excellent
client service and their commitment to
their role. They are always keen to be
involved in new projects and are easy to
work with, and SO good at what they do.
I could not do what I do without them.
1. How long have you been with MWB?
13 years in June of this year
have great colleagues. I am really lucky,
as I work with a great bunch of people.
2. What tempted you to apply for your
job?
I started with the firm as a conveyancing
secretary then moved on to Intervention
Manager. I fell into my current role back
in 2009, when the firm’s contract with
the Solicitors Regulation Authority as
Intervention Agents came to an end. The
Chief Executive’s assistant had decided
to move on to pastures new in a new
county, and I found myself between
roles, so I fell into my current role,
although it has changed considerably
since 2009.
5. What’s the best non-work activity
you’ve enjoyed with colleagues and
why?
We have a social committee (made
up of members of staff from various
departments) and they decide on what
social events to put on throughout the
year. We have had summer picnics,
bowling and ghost walks to name just a
few, so there is always an opportunity to
catch up with colleagues at some point
throughout the year. I personally enjoy
the staff quiz night, which normally takes
place once a year and is open to all staff
from all of our 9 offices, and it is a great
night to catch up with colleagues from
other offices that you have not seen
during the past year (in some cases).
Lots of food and drink is consumed,
and lots of story telling ensues. My team
normally come last and are awarded the
wooden spoon but hey – it is the taking
part that counts.
3. What were you doing before you
joined the firm?
I was working as a negotiator for a firm
of Estate Agents back in 2003, and I
had dealings with Wynne Baxter (as we
were then) and got to know one of the
Property Partners really well.
4. What do you like about working
here?
The people. I think it is really important
to enjoy your job, but it helps when you
6. How do you usually spend your
lunch hour?
Lunch hour – what is that? Although I
8. What’s the first thing you do when
you get home after work?
Put the kettle on and take off my
shoes! Once I have changed out of my
work clothes, it is back to the duties of
cooking something for dinner, washing,
ironing …….. all the normal things
that we all do. If I am really lucky, my
husband will prepare something to eat,
while I sit down with my cuppa.
9. What’s your favourite food?
That is a difficult question. I like a roast
dinner, but also like lasagne and a good
curry. I enjoy cooking, so there are
always new recipes being tried out at
home – some good and some bad! I am
known at the office for my homemade
pavlova and Maltesers squares.
10. Finally, if someone you know was
thinking of applying to work for us,
what would you say to them?
Run a mile – only joking! The firm is
constantly changing and growing, so
there are nearly always new positions
available at points throughout the year,
which are advertised on our website.
I would encourage them to send in
their CV, as we are all a great bunch of
people and your work environment is so
important, especially as we all spend so
much time at work.
