Re: Spring 2014 | Page 94

Thank you As mentioned before in earlier issues Mayo Wynne Baxter have a dedicated fundraising team called the Chestnut Champions, made up of representatives from all of our six offices. They are affectionately known as the “Chestnutters” and it is up to us “Chestnutters” to come up with ideas to raise money for Chestnut Tree House. In September we held a car boot sale at Brighton Racecourse selling items kindly donated by staff. After a very early Sunday morning start, we managed to raise £162.00. This was much to our delight as it was extremely hard trying to get buyers to part with even a £1 on the day! At the end of the car boot sale other sellers decided to donate to us their unsold items, and we actually went away with more items than we started with. We took all these items to the Chestnut Tree House charity shop in Seaford, who have so far raised a further £60.00 from the items donated which is excellent. Sid Sloane of CBeebies fame, generously donated his time for a story telling session at a child’s school or nursery, and Peter James donated a complete signed set of his Roy Grace novels. We had everything from chocolate, golf and spa treats up for grabs. Following the car boot, in the first week of November we ran our annual silent auction for all of the staff. We had some amazing prizes donated by local companies, and we are extremely grateful for the support shown for Chestnut Tree House in these tough economic times. Again, many many thanks to the companies that donated, and a thank you on behalf of the staff and children at Chestnut Tree House. The auction is always a popular choice, and was taken quite seriously with some tactical bidding taking place. After all the bids were checked (and double checked), we raised an amazing £750.
