If you have sensitive skin the tissue will
be clean but your face skin will be very
dry, feel tight will easily become irritable
and inflamed. Typically sensitive skin is
thin with broken capillaries and develops
reddish and scaly areas. It can also be
itchy and tingly and is prone to breaking
into spots and frequently suffer from
allergic reactions. It is the most fragile and
problematic type of skin and it should be
handled carefully.
If your skin is combination, the tissue will
have traces of oil coming from your nose
and forehead, but will be clean in the areas
that touched your cheeks. Combination
skin can be a combination of any other
skin types (oily & dry, oily & sensitive, etc.)
It is very common to be oily in the T-zone
(forehead, nose and chin) but have some
dryness around the eyes, cheeks or mouth.
It requires different types of care in relation
to particular areas. Oily areas should be
frequently and thoroughly cleaned where
as dry areas should be treated with rich
moisturisers and creams.
Hopefully that helped, but remember that
your skin type is genetic and it will probably
always stay the same, however it can
change due to; health, age, stress, different
seasons, wind, sun, air conditioning,
pollution, pregnancy, diet, smoking,
hormones etc.
As it is spring, it’s time to get a few colours
out and play with makeup! As I mentioned,
the biggest trend for spring this year is
natural, healthy and glowing skin. Bright
statement lip is popular this spring and
this year it is all about orange! 2013 was
the year of the boyish brow however this
season brows should be soft and natural.
There is great news for mascara lovers as
the trend is to get those lashes dolled up
as 2014 will be a year of full and feminine
lashes! So get yourself a nice, volumising
mascara or even false lashes if you like
and show off those gorgeous eyes! I am
definitely a mascara addict and I am sure
I am not the only one! As for eyeshadows
there were many different colours such
as pinks, blues, greens, whites, blacks,
browns, metallic and glitter, so take your
pick. You are free to use your eyeliner
as much as you like this spring as it was
popular on the catwalks too! Face is the
focus of the season, so lilacs, peaches
and pinks were used to brighten and lift
the face. Blusher is great to brighten up
any look adding a bit of youthfulness to
the cheeks. Sculpt those cheeks and
don’t be shy! Many women avoid applying
blusher as they are not sure how to use
it according to their face shape. See the
‘’Face shapes & blusher application’’ table
to help you.
Have a lovely sunny spring and look after
your skin!
OVAL
This face shape is considered the ideal as it has
the most balanced proportions. An oval shape face
will generally have a wider forehead with a slightly
narrower chin and prominent cheekbones. Firstly,
apply the blusher to the apples of your cheeks,
then move to the temples. Blend well. You can also
take two blusher colours and blend them together
to create a nice, soft colour.
ROUND
Round face is fairly short, and almost as wide as
it is long. The features are quite rounded, with a
wide forehead, full, soft cheeks and a rounded
chin with not much definition from the jaw. For
this face shape the blusher appl ication plays
a big role. You can create a vertical line with it
which will make your face look slimmer. Apply the
blusher at a 45-degree angle, outlining your natural
cheekbones.
SQUARE
Square face will have a broad, wide forehead,
and a wide jaw of roughly similar width. Chin will
be thin, square and quite flat at the bottom. Like
a round face shape the width and length are in
proportion. You should be attentive to apply the
blusher gently and not to overdo the look as
square face has pointed cheekbones. Apply the
blusher in small circles and mainly focus on the
apples of your cheeks. Then blend softly to create
a shade. You could also apply a little amount of
blusher on your forehead corners to break the
sharp square lines.
LONG/RECTANGULAR
This face shape is longer than it is wide. The
forehead, cheekbones and jawline are typically all
the same width. For this face shape the blusher
should be applied in a way to make your face look
broader and shorter. You will easily get it if you
apply the blusher in a horizontal direction and
blend it out deeply and thoroughly. To create a
slimmer look you can also blend two tones of the
same colour.
HEART-SHAPED/INVERTED TRIANGLE
Is similar to the oval face shape being wider at the
forehead but it slowly tapers down into a small,
neat and pointed chin. Normally the cheekbones
are high. With a small blusher brush, start by
applying the blusher on the cheekbones outermost
point, going downwards and inwards. Be attentive
not to cross the vertical line to avoid a ‘’overdo’’
look with the blusher. Use the leftovers on the
brush to cover your forehead and its corners a
little.
