Welcome We finally saw some sun during the summer months but now as we move into autumn I am sad to have to tell you that this will be the last ever Re: Magazine. After five years and 20 packed issues we have decided to leave on a high. I hope that you will join me in giving thanks to all those that have contributed to the success of the magazine in that time; the writers, designers, contributors, printers and those who are behind the scenes. On a personal note I would like to give my special thanks to my reviewing partner Jo who has had to ‘suffer’ and help me review some of the best restaurants and hotels in Sussex as well as driving some fabulous cars. I would also like to thank you, the readers, and our advertisers as without either of whom there would never have been a Re: Magazine. Over the years we’ve met some really interesting characters to interview and this final issue is no exception. You may not recognise Dan Ryan with a beard - which he was sporting for a critically acclaimed play he was doing in Chichester when we met – but if you have watched any British TV in the last 25 years then you will have seen him in something. He has played parts in some fantastic programmes such as: Between the Lines, Trial & Retribution, Harbour Lights, The Bill, Bob & Rose, Linda Green, Wire in the Blood, Steel River Blues, As Time Goes By, The Street, The Whistleblowers, Heartbeat, Dr Who, Survivors, Casualty, Just William, Skins, Home Fires to name just a few! However his biggest role to date has been playing one of the leads in 53 episodes of the Sky hit Mount Pleasant staring alongside Sally Lindsay. I met Dan completely by chance in a pub and we got chatting, not wanting to miss a trick I asked if he would let me interview him. He is such a lovely man and he kindly invited me to his home near Horsham for a coffee and a chat. You can read all about him on page 8. Our colleague Beth Garner has written about her experiences of travelling Vietnam whilst Amber, along with our temporary colleague Lara Cusack (she was with us for work experience) interviewed MWB team member Melvin Phillips who was recently awarded the British Empire Medal and was once the Mayor of East Grinstead. 2017 is also the 150th anniversary of the firm starting in Lewes and Amber has been researching how times have changed since we first started in the town. Wynne Baxter was in fact the first ever Mayor of Lewes and we have always had a presence here. We have the usual mix of articles about the laws that could affect you or your business in this issue and as we pack up Re: Towers I recommend that you visit mayowynnebaxter.co.uk/blog in the future where we will continue to post all the legal articles and information. I hope that you enjoy this last ever issue. Over the years we have had a lot of fun putting it together and as always I’d love to hear what you think of Re: Magazine so please drop me a line at [email protected] Best wishes and thanks again for being with us over the years. Jason Edge Editor It is always a mad dash as we reach deadline here at Re: Magazine and as a consequence we sometimes miss the odd typo and grammatical error. Despite what many people may think we are but human and sometimes we do make mistakes. If you spot one then please let me know, whoever spots the most does not get a prize I’m afraid but you will receive our thanks for being eagle-eyed and it helps prove that you actually read the words and not just see the pretty pictures. 1
