in our fridge ready for consumption at
some point.
Street traders followed us around trying
to sell us all sorts, in particular selfie
sticks to which one guy would just not
give in. We tried to tell him you did not
need one to take a selfie and I proceeded
to take a picture of the three of us! To
which he went quiet and smiled but we
gave in and eventually got the selfie stick
for two euros instead of five, a gift for
Alan’s son on our return!
The football was on in most places and
we settled down in a restaurant that
had a large screen and watched Wales
beat Belgium! I had Belgium in the
sweepstake at work, so although gutted
I was out, I was happy to see Wales get
through (I have to say that given I work
for the lovely Welshman Nick Garrish!)
The end to our first day came quick but
with a busy day ahead we turned in.
Day two in Rome was spent sightseeing;
we visited two of the main points of
interest in Rome, The Colosseum and
Vatican City. With two three-hour, skip
the busy lines, tours booked we had a
long day ahead but an exciting one.
We ventured onto a very bumpy Italian
bus! Off on the busy roads heading
towards the Colosseum. We got to the
stop we needed and walked the rest on
foot. It’s strange being in another country
trying to read a map or find your way,
it feels very daunting, but we followed
what we thought was the way and we
eventually found our meeting point and
were met by our tour guide. We were
supplied with earphones and a radio and
along with the others in the group we
followed and listened.
