Aloha spirit of the festival.
This was the second year that we had
been involved as sponsors of the event
and the volunteers from the firm were in
good spirits as they manned the gates
collecting donations from those entering
the Paddle Village and playing host to
the 100 or so guests in our hospitality
marquee. Since it began Paddle has
raised in excess of £200,000 for worthy
charities which is a fantastic achievement.
As always, the big event of the beach
festival weekend took place around
mid-day on the Sunday with the hilarious
‘Paddle Something Unusual’ event. Think
wacky racers on water; vans, barrels,
inflatables and pretty much anything that
can be made to float is launched into the
sea and raced by local businesses and
groups. Some fall apart, some sink but all
make the thousands of spectators laugh
out loud.
As usual the weekend was a fun, family
day out with something for everyone in
the Paddle Village. The MWB team were
understandably exhausted by the end of it
but as you can see from the pictures a lot
of fun was had by all.
The date for next year’s event has already
been set as 1st and 2nd July 2017 so if
you want to know a little more about this
great charity event visit their website paddleroundthepier.com – and hopefully
we will see you there.
