Chestnutters
When the email came round about volunteering at Chestnut Tree House myself, along with my colleagues Amy Pulling, Lisa Jones, Katy Meade, Fiona Dodd and Jeannette Dyson jumped at the chance of a day in the sunshine away from the office, especially as there was the promise of afternoon tea and cake at the end of a hard day’s work! So, one slightly cloudy Thursday morning in July, we donned the shorts in the hope of some sun, dusted off the gardening gloves and arrived at Chestnut Tree House. We were met by Ken and Shelley, who look after and maintain the amazing grounds of this truly magical place. After a chat about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ of the day the sun finally broke through and we were shown to the tool shed. Sadly we were not allowed to use the rather impressive ride on mower but were set to work weeding the very sunny and warm patio area around the main building and planting some trees at their gorgeous feature pond.
