Interview

Dr.Vishal Yadav, an alumni of KIRAN school, who is studying medicine is interviewed by Ms.Promila Charan of KIRAN society

Promila : Please tell about yourself.

Vishal Yadav: My life journey was full of challenges. We are living very simple life. I am a physically challenged man, having clubfoots by birth. We have very big family including uncles & aunties & their children. My parents are poor and illiterate. My elder brother was very supportive from very beginning. I had studied in class 1 to 5th in KIRAN School. I was a day scholar and used KIRAN bus to come to school from my village.

After that I had continued my further study near to my village school till class 6-8th because the classes were at that time 1-5th only in KIRAN School. I can say; these three years were totally break period from KIRAN. No contact. I studied with the support of my family specially my elder brother as fees of village school were very low.

Promila : How did you know about KIRAN

Vishal Yadav: Well, once a KIRAN bus passed through my small shop. At that time I was only four years old child. Then someone of my village (an elderly man) told to us that this school is run by a foreigner lady for challenged children in Nagwa, Lanka, Varanasi. He suggested us to contact this school. I went with my brother there in 1997 and got admission in class 1. Later we all shifted in Madhopur in year 1998 and I had continued my study till class 5th. KIRAN also gave an opportunity for treatment of my clubfoots, although my parents did not agree for this. They had feared that it could be worst after operation and I couldn’t work. Unfortunately it was not fully successful. My parent didn’t want to go for further operation.

Promila: In which year did you complete your study in KIRAN School?

Vishal Yadav: As I told you that I had got admission in class 1st in year 1997 and studied till class 5th. Therefore, I had completed my study in KIRAN until 2002.

Promila Charan : Congratulation Mr. Vishal Yadav, you have completed successfully your medical study- MBBS.

Let's go back and refresh your memories.
