This course has been designed to
give students both a practical and
theoretical understanding of fashion
buying, merchandising, sourcing,
product development brand and
quality management of the supply
chain from concept to consumer. Fashion Promotion allows you to
create brand campaigns that attract
consumers and influencers to brands
within the industry. This course will
teach you the skills and techniques
needed to effectively communicate
and market fashion in this fast
moving sector.
Futures
Graduates work in fashion
forecasting, buying, merchandising,
product development, fabric sourcing,
marketing, visual merchandising, and
brand management.
The Course
This course will offer you the
chance to understand the roles
allied with fashion buying and brand
management. You will gain practical
knowledge about the product
development process including
fabric selection and testing, colour
and quality management and
sustainability. You will learn about
predicting trends, planning a range,
building a brand, and then how to
promote and protect it. Special focus
will be placed on understanding
consumer behaviour, psychographic
profiling and discovering what really
makes people buy.
Your creative learning will be
enhanced through relevant field trips
to manufacturers, trade fairs and
fabric suppliers. Teaching staff and
visiting professionals from the fashion
industry will help you throughout the
course and will help you understand
your choices after graduation.

Year One
You will build fundamental
skills in fashion forecasting,
buying from concept to consumer,
brand buying, management and
promotion. You will be taught
digital communication skills to
communicate brand identity and
will be encouraged to think about
your personal brand signature.
We encourage you to start thinking
about your contextual studies
research throughout this year.
Year Two
You will gain a greater understanding
of managing your personal brand
and will work in creative collaboration
with industry partners and students
from other disciplines. Merchandising
and visual merchandising are taught
in the context of real industry
practice. Every student will be
given the opportunity to undertake
a work placement and participate
in manufacturing visits to echo the
fashion buyer’s role.
Year Three
We ask you to show your contextual
studies research in a written or visual
dissertation. You will further build on
your skills in consumer research and
trend prediction to make the case for
a gap in the market to launch a new
brand. You write a market research
report, create a brand proposal, range
plan, tech packs and produce a range
of creative outcomes.

and promotion managers, fashion
photographers, writers and social
media experts within the fashion
industry.
The Course
This course will give you the essential
skills that you need to build, promote
and maintain dynamic fashion brands.
Our students develop their voice over
a number of digital platforms including
film, magazines and social media.
As well as working individually, we
aim for our students to participate in
the industry and link with other live
campaigns. The course is delivered
through a combination of practice and
theory-based learning. Teaching staff
and visiting professionals from the
fashion promotion industry support
you and help you to make decisions
about your future in the sector.

Year One
You will build knowledge and
awareness of brand principles
and the basics of how to bring
together a fashion campaign.
Alongside this, you will learn
key skills in photography, film,
graphics, illustration and social
media. We encourage you to
start thinking about your
contextual studies research
throughout this year.
Year Two
You will gain greater understanding
of multi-platform campaign building.
At the same time, you will develop
skills in building websites, writing
market reports and creating fashion
television. Our students go live at
this stage, taking on a three-month
industry internship.
Year Three
You will be assessed on four
components in your final year
and we ask you to create a final
major project from inception to
realisation. You will also work on a
range of national and international
competitions to showcase your
skills and build a well-rounded
professional portfolio. We ask you
to show your contextual studies
research in a long form dissertation.
