MozFest 2016 sees nearly
2,000 people through
Ravensbourne’s doors
Ravensbourne once again hosted
MozFest in October 2016 and they
plan to return to Ravensbourne in
2017. Mozfest is the world’s leading
festival for the open internet
movement. The 2016 festival proved
the largest yet with over 500 sessions,
(26 of those run by young people)
and 1,800 attendees at the event.
Years and Years
Not many students get the chance
to design outfits for Brit Award
winning artists to be worn on stage
at world class venues, so when we
were approached by the stylist for
British band ‘Years and Years’ our
Fashion BA students jumped at the
opportunity to design an outfit for
their upcoming world tour.
Over 30 sketches were submitted
by students across all levels of study,
and the band were so impressed they
ended up selecting not just one
design, but five!
The chosen students were given the
pressing deadline of a performance
at Wembley to work to, but all rose
to the challenge and produced their
outfits within ten days. Their creations
have now been worn by frontman and
pop icon Olly Alexander all over the
world, including on stage at Wembley
and Coachella!
Mozilla Festival
Ravensbourne has hosted the
Mozilla Festival for the past five
years. MozFest is a diverse, highly
interactive event with something for
everyone. Ravensbourne students
have the chance to join leaders of
the Open Web - artists, activists,
educators, scientists, journalists,
policy-makers and technologists -
who are building a better internet.
For three days in Autumn, Mozilla
hires out our whole building to
welcome over 1,800 delegates
from around the world. As part of
this event, Mozilla hire a team of
student runners to make sure the
event runs smoothly. Students from
any course can volunteer, working
in registration, hospitality or even
donning the coveted Firefox
costume itself.

Ravensbourne is also a successful commercial hire space, with
clients including Intel, Microsoft, Twin Summer Centres, YouTube
and Bloomberg.
