Digital Advertising and Design is the study of emerging digital technologies and their application in the field of creative advertising . This unique course specialises in giving you the skills you need to develop original content for new media platforms .
Futures Experts in digital advertising most often work as digital designers and directors , strategists , account handlers , UX designers , project managers and producers .
The Course This course offers students the opportunity to study the most current platforms used in advertising alongside the innovative creation of digital content . You will craft digital and physical products during your studies , working with emerging technologies such as augmented reality , 3D projection mapping and virtual environments .
Pitching and presentation skills are key to this course , alongside an understanding of the industry and advertising strategies . The course will enable you to prepare a creative portfolio and showreel to progress into key roles in the advertising world . You will be assessed through the completion of practical work and theory-based learning including essays and project reports .
Year One You will build fundamental skills in conceptual thinking , the digital image , web media as well as branding and visualisation . You will begin to think about your own approach to digital creation and build confidence and self-discipline in responding to briefs . We encourage you to start thinking about your contextual studies research .
Year Two You will gain a greater understanding of design innovation and cross media concepts . Through work placements and live briefs you will gain knowledge of the advertising world and the varied roles that exist in the industry .
Year Three You will further develop your skills in advanced digital techniques and bring your learning together in a major digital design project , ready for exhibition at the degree show . We require you to participate in competition briefs and festivals to develop your confidence in working with industry . At the same time , we ask you to bring together your contextual studies research and thinking in a long form dissertation .
