second of these assesses ‘how far the widening
access programme impacts on the [wider]
organisation’, and whether it is ‘shifting the nature’
of HE participation at an institutional and societal
level (Dent et al., 2013, p.11). This would seem to
underpin the case for overcoming the challenges
and starting to examine the indirect impact of
outreach rather than continuing to overlook it.
