Young Journalists in Vienna

When the Journalist Club of the Railway Technical School won the competition “Europa Diary” in the category of photo reportage, the whole school was very proud of them. The students and their mentor Boris Jašović won a four-day trip to Vienna. They set out on 18 September, together with the students of the First Kragujevac Grammar School, High School for Catering and Tourism and Grammar School “ "Branko Radičević". The Railway Technical School was represented by Angelina Avramović and Luka Radosavljević from class 3/2 and Dušan Stanišković from class 3/6

At the beginning of their stay in Vienna, the students attended a lecture about the dual education in Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The event was attended by a team of journalists of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) , who interviewed the young journalists. With the basic concepts in journalism Angelina, Luka and Dušan learned a lot about the basic concepts of journalism through another lecture and discussion with experienced journalists. The free time was spent in socialising with peers from other schools and visiting attractions of the Austrian capital. On the third day of this interesting trip, the students visited RTV ORF, Austria's public broadcaster, and then the Schönbrunn Palace, one of the most important cultural monuments in the country. This amazing sightseeing tour was followed by a meeting with RTS reporters, who shared some more secrets of journalism with their young colleagues.

The last day of the stay in Vienna was also very interesting. The students visited the National Library, the Natural History Museum and the OeAD, Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation in education, science and research, where they learned about various scholarship and student exchange programmes.

Angelina, Luka and Dušan told us that they were truly impressed by the journey - they made friendships, learned about the history and culture of Austria, as well as about journalism. They all agreed it would be very useful for them in their future work within the Journalist Club.
