284. LOT OF TWO WHALEMAN MADE WHALE
IVORY AND WOOD CANES, circa 1850-1870, the 1 st
is a unique New England scrimshawed whale ivory steamer
clam grip on a single wood “L” shaped cane with an ivory
two-button cuff. The 2 nd is a beautifully designed segmented
whale ivory and wood cane, ivory and rosewood “L” shaped
grip on a turned wood shaft with 17 whale ivory wood bands
ending in a 2 ½” ivory ferrule. Length 35 ¼ in. each

TROPICAL WOOD CARVED EAGLE HEAD CANE,
circa 1850, a “C” shaped grip with eagle head and 14 interval
ivory and wood spacers on a tapering wood shaft.
