relief-carved eagle with old paint and gilding depicted astride a stars and stripes shield, olive branch and clutch of arrows in its talons,
furled flags in the background, elaborate carved oval surround of a berried foliate border interspersed with Chinese ‘good fortune’
motifs and alternating with concentric rows of rope-twist patterns. Height 15 ½ in. Length 19 ½ in.
