THE RITZ CARLTON HOTEL,” depicting an elegantly dressed mermaid wearing multiple strands of pearls, long white gloves
and feathered hat, her beau in top-hat, tails and boutonniere, the head waiter is reprimanding their shocking behavior at the Ritz, titled
across the base, and signed lower right R. Cahoon.

DECORATED ANTIQUE WOOD TEA CANISTER, the three-panel
front decorated with woman on the left panel and man on the right, both
painted in profile wearing 19 th century dress, and facing inward around
a central table with bouquet and wine flask, the lid painted with floral
decoration.
Height 24 in. Width 24 in. Depth 17 ½ in.
Note: While unsigned, this piece was authenticated by Rosemary Rapp, the founder
of the Cahoon Museum of American Art, in September 1997. The tea canister is
accompanied by its certificate of authentication.
