211. TIMOTHY H. THOMPSON (ENGLISH b. 1951) “ESCAPE FROM THE BRIG FLORIDA”, oil on canvas, signed lower right. 24 in. x 40 in. Born in Hull, England in 1951, contemporary British marine artist Thompson has been painting for nearly forty years. He spent his childhood living on the tiny Channel Island of Herm where he developed a love and respect for the sea. His paintings exhibit a refined style that is reminiscent of 19th century masters and focus on marine settings, particularly battle scenes and boats that span from the 16th century battleships to modern yachts. Thompson has exhibited his work throughout the United States as well as England, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco and Australia. 212.
